Is March a Reliable Release Possibility for the iPad 3?

In today’s Mobile News, we present a bit of iPad information, then we ask you one question, then we ask you another.

Will the iPad 3 Slip onto Shelves in March?

Rumour mills churn constantly when the next-gen iPad is the topic. From early January 2012 to late February 2012 to June 2012 or later, possible release dates span quarters and seasons. The most reliable information source, however, is usually Apple, Inc., itself.

Apple hasn’t directly said a whole lot about its next-gen tablet. But they have reportedly said that they are holding a

“media event”

…in early March.

If you recall, it was during March 2011 that the iPad 2 officially arrived on scene. With Apple’s pattern of June releases of iPhones and March releases of iPads, it’s a reasonable guess that the ‘event’ will be to present the iPad 3.

That is just a guess, though. As usual, Apple is playing its device cards very close to its collective chest.

“Mum’s the word,”

…and all that, you see.

Apple is so protective of product information that it allegedly sends its new hires into fake project work environments to test their ability to keep secrets to themselves and test their loyalty before giving them the green light to work on actual projects.

The iPad 3 is rumoured to possess a 2048 x 1536 pixel, high-resolution Retina display by Sharp, a 9.7-inch touchscreen, ‘faster processor’ and enhanced graphics display capabilities.

Pictures identified by third-party sources as iPad 3 images present what appears to be a low-distraction front border area with wide side margins and thinner top and bottom margins that envelope a very decent, high-quality colour and sharpness.

The edges of the device pictured seem to slope inward from the front panel to the back, hinting that the tablet is not of the same 2D parameters from front to back – an interesting development if true.

Regarding timing and as additional iFood for iThought, the iPad 2 was introduced in a

…on March 2, 2011.

Care to guess for when the March media event is scheduled?
